Theo Bitsakis

I’m a CONACyT research fellow at the Instituto de Radioastronomía y Astrofísica of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM), located in the beautiful city of Morelia, just 4 hours from Mexico City. My research interests are focused in the area of extragalactic astronomy. With my collaborators we study the evolution of galaxies in compact groups and other interacting systems, as well as the nuclear activity and the origin of the stellar populations in nearby galaxies.

Before I find myself in Morelia, I completed my PhD in the University of Crete in the homonymous beautiful greek island (where I’m originally from), and then I moved to the NASA Herschel Science Center/Caltech in Pasadena California. Finally, before my current position I spent two years in the Instituto de Astronomía of UNAM in Mexico City.
