HOW TO GET FROM MEXICO CITY TO MORELIA (AND BACK) BY BUS At the bus station "Observatorio" in Mexico City (there are several bus stations in Mexico City, this one is to the west of the city), take a non-stop ("directo") bus to Morelia. Many lines run between Mexico City and Morelia. We usually use the ETN line. The trip takes about 4 hours. Once you arrive to the Morelia bus station take an official taxi asking to be taken to "Instituto de Astronomia, en el campus de la UNAM, despues del FIRA". For more details, the UNAM campus is on kilometer 8 of the Old Road from Morelia to Patzcuaro. The taxi will take about 20-25 minutes to get to the campus. At the entrance to the Campus there is a gate and the guard will direct you to the Astronomy building. BY CAR From Mexico City you drive to Toluca on a toll road. Once in Toluca you go to Atlacomulco and from there to Maravatio. Finally, from Maravatio you drive to Morelia (see map). The trip takes about 4 hours. Entering to Morelia follow the map. It is easy to get lost in Morelia, so phone the Instituto if in trouble. BY PLANE The Aeromar airline has several daily flights between Mexico City and Morelia. For your convenience, take the flight from Terminal 2, next to the Hangar Presidencial. The flight takes 45 minutes. Once at the Morelia airport, take an official taxi asking to be taken to "Instituto de Astronomia, en el campus de la UNAM, despues del FIRA".
