The Institute of Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics at UNAM Morelia, congratulates Susana Lizano Soberón, UNAM emeritus researcher at this Institute, as the UNAM University Council has decided to award her an Honoris Causa Doctorate.

In a press release, UNAM recognizes that Susana Lizano's theoretical work on the birth and youth of stars in our galaxy is internationally recognized. She is an emeritus researcher at UNAM and the National System of Researchers, and has published more than 90 research articles in international journals, which have received more than 10,000 citations. She is a founding member of the then Morelia Unit of the Institute of Astronomy, which later became the Center for Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics. Susana Lizano later promoted the transformation of the Center into the current Institute.
