Planets have life; yes, you read that right. Well, it is more like planets have a life: they are born, grow, and live around their star, sometimes for a very long time and sometimes not so long. And sometimes planets die too. But there could also be life on planets. What might this life be like? Where is it? Have we found it yet?

UNAM Morelia answers these and other questions in the Astronomy Fridays series, organized by the Institute of Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics (IRyA). In each session, an IRyA researcher will answer questions submitted by the previous series' audience about life and planets.

On April 24th, Aina Palau will present the talk "The Life of Planets and Life on Planets," in which she will discuss how planets are born, grow, and live, and go into what life on planets might be like, where it might be, and how we are searching for it.

The talks will take place at the UNAM Morelia Cultural Center (Av. Acueducto 19, near Las Tarascas) at 6:00 pm, with free admission for all. No prior registration is required, and weather permitting, we will have stargazing after the talk. This April 24th, we will observe the Moon and Jupiter through telescopes. Each session will also include surprises for the audience.

To close out this semester, on May 29th, Carlos Carrasco-González will answer the question “How are planets born and what do comets teach us?”, including the famous interstellar comet 3I/ATLAS.
