The Institute of Radio astronomy and Astrophysics (IRyA) of the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) carries out world-class research in the following areas: interstellar medium, star formation, evolved stars, high energy astrophysics, galactic dynamics and structure, extragalactic astronomy, and cosmology. It also offers top-level training in astronomy through its graduate program, enhancing the integration of its students into national and international institutions in this discipline, as well as into the private sector, in areas where their education in physics, mathematics and computing can be useful. In addition, the institute maintains a close contact with society through outreach programs aimed at a wider audience, especially students from preschool up to undergraduate levels.
