When we talk about a lack of water, we mean fresh water for human consumption, as well as farming and ranching. But in the universe water is in many more places that we can imagine. At the same time, it is a very special substance, even rare, with very different properties compared to others.

On March 28, Javier Ballesteros, researcher at the Institute of Radio Astronomy and Astrophysics at UNAM, Campus Morelia, will share with us the talk “Common, but rare: water in the universe,” about this essential compound for life. This is the second talk of IRyA’s “Astronomy Fridays”, celebrating 15 years with talks in which we explore how much we have learned about the universe in this time.

The talks will be held in Spanish at the UNAM Centro Cultural Morelia (Av. Acueducto no. 19, Centro, Morelia) at 7:30 pm. Everyone can attend and admission is free. No prior registration is required.

The third talks of this series will be “These galaxies shouldn’t exist… or should they?”, in which Jacopo Fritz will tell us about the most distant galaxies discovered so far, on April 25.
