Dr. Adriana Gazol studied for her undergraduate degree in physics at the National Autonomous University of Mexico and received her PhD en physical sciences from the Université de Nice-Sophia Antipolis in France. She has been a researcher at the UNAM since 1998.

She studies the atomic interstellar medium using hydrodynamic and magnetohydrodynamic numerical simulations. In particular, she studies the thermodynamic properties of gas in transition between the diffuse medium and the molecular clouds where stars form.

Dr. Gazol has been the head of public outreach of the Institute for Radioastronomy and Astrophysics and has represented the IRyA in many university teaching committees.
