Dr. Jesús Toalá obtained his undergraduate degree in physics from the Autonomous University of Sinaloa and his PhD in astrophysics from the Instituto de Astrofísica de Andalucia (IAA-CSIC) and the University of Granada, Spain. He was a postdoctoral fellow at the IAA-CSIC and at the Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics of the Academia Sinica (ASIAA) in Taiwan. He has been a researcher at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM) since 2017.
He studies the circumstellar medium around low and high-mass stars using infrared, optical and X-ray observations. He also studies X-rays from superbubbles in the Large Magellanic Cloud.
Dr. Toalá organizes the meetings of the evolved stars group and is also a member of the editorial committee of the Bulletin of the UNAM, Campus Morelia.
