Dr. Ramandeep Gill obtained his undergraduate degree in Physics and Astronomy and a PhD in Astrophysics from the University of British Columbia, Canada. He held postdoctoral fellowships at the Canadian Institute for Theoretical Astrophysics, Open University of Israel, and George Washington University before joining the faculty at IRyA in 2022.

He is an expert on relativistic jets in gamma-ray bursts. He uses semi-analytical techniques and numerical simulations to calculate the outflow dynamics, lightcurve, spectrum, and polarization of high-energy transients. He studies magnetic field evolution and a variety of bursting phenomena in magnetars. He also uses kinetic plasma simulations to model the broadband spectra of ultraluminous X-ray sources.
